We are a newly formed volunteer organization made up of health professionals, breastfeeding advocates and breastfeeding mothers.

Our Mission:

To make breastfeeding the norm.

Our Goal:

To promote, protect, and support breastfeeding in Northeast Louisiana.

The next meeting of the Breastfeeding Awareness Network and Coalition of Northeast Louisiana (The BANC of NELA) is Tuesday March 15, 2011 starting at 6pm.  Our goal is to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding.  The meeting will be held at the Ouachita Parish Health Unit Community Room located at 1650 DeSiard St, Monroe LA.

Dr. Laurie LeBleu from the Monroe Women’s Clinic will be joining us to discuss what we can do as a community organization to help OB doctors help their patients meet their breastfeeding goals.  Health professionals, breastfeeding advocates and breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to attend and become a member of The BANC of NELA.  Please contact Brenda Myers at 966-4044 / myersb@stfran.com or Brandi Doucet at 548-3198 / Bhdoucet@gmail.com for more information.  Breastfeeding children are welcome.
